POLISH ARABIAN
HORSE DAYS 2005 |
|
Arabian Horse
Days is Poland is the longest running and most prestigious multi-faceted
international celebration of the
Arabian horse in the world. Now well
into its fourth decade, Arabian Horse Days began in 1970 with formal
invitation of international guests to a late spring auction of select
Arabian mares and stallions at Janow Podlaski. Over the years, breeding
parades at each of the State Studs, the Polish National Show, a Silent
Sale, International Race Day and several post sale tours of Poland
have been added to the nearly week long activity-filled event. The
2005 gala promises to raise the standard yet again, building upon
the unqualified success of last year’s festivities held in conjunction
with the WAHO Congress, as Poland has assembled an exemplary selection
of sale horses and further refined the schedule of activities and
events.

| Pride of Poland
Auction |
The marquis
event as always is the Pride of Poland Auction, the essential barometer
of the worldwide market as the auction standard within the
Arabian breed. Many of the best Arabians bred in Poland have been
offered via this venue, with the 2005 collection promising to uphold
the world class tradition as this elite group of mares represents
the very best of the centuries-old breeding programs of the State
Studs. Filled with proven broodmares, show ring achievers and rising
stars, the 2005 Pride of Poland offering truly has something for everyone.
The record breaking Monogramm daughters of 2004 are trumped in 2005
with the offering of the ultra-exotic international champion ELANDRA,
considered by many to be his most enchantingly beautiful daughter,
whose genetic heritage is further enhanced as the only daughter of
the unforgettable international champion Erlanda, full sister to the
ethereal Emigrantka and Emanacja. Four magnificent daughters of the
legendary Eukaliptus also headline the 2005 collection including the
luminous Polish National Champion LARISSA, the ever-dynamic Polish
National Senior Mare winner HEROLDIA and the glorious, regally-bred
ZOFIOWKA. Five promising daughters of the perennially valuable sire
Eldon, European & Polish National Champion, have also been made available
including the accomplished Polish Oaks winner FISZKA and the aspiring
show ring superstar EGZYNA. Champion producers ZATOKA and PUSTYNNA
TARCZA add proven predictability to the offering, while established
broodmatrons and show ring veterans CELNA, EQVIRIA, EUZETIA and BAJADA
combine both the promise of future champion produce and the certainty
of show rings honours abroad.
An integral part of the annual auction is the Silent Sale, a favorite
of international breeders and astute evaluators, especially those
looking for a high quality young stallion straight off the proving
grounds of the Polish track and well-bred mares just beginning their
breeding careers. Often available at very affordable prices well below
the elite bids of the main auction, horses purchased in the Silent
Sale have gone on to great fame for their new owners all over the
globe.
With the raising of the standard each year in the Polish Arabian auction,
breeders from across the globe look to Poland with great expectation.
As the Polish Arabians of the State Studs continue to celebrate unprecedented
success on the world stage, the good fortune of international breeding
programs and the Arabian horse itself stand to benefit most supremely
from the continued success of the “Pride of Poland”.

| Polish National
Show |
The Polish
National Show is perhaps best known for it’s intimate atmosphere and
unparalleled depth of quality. Over the years, many of Poland’s most
notable Arabian have graced the show ring at Janow Podlaski and added
their names to the annals of champions, some of which were just inaugurating
forthcoming success both in show competition and the breeding barn;
others, capping off legendary careers as international icons and genetic
pillars.
The Polish National Show is always a showcase of the very best of
the Polish Arabian breeding program, pitting the best of long-revered
Janów Podlaski, against the up-and-coming Białka and the international
dominance of Michałów. Stiff competition from Poland’s ever-increasing
number of private Arabian breeders has added excitement and challenge
to the competitive arena over the last decade, especially evident
in former Polish National Junior Champion Colt, GIRLAN-BEY, second
generation privately-bred and owned, recently honoured as the inaugural
recipient of the ECAHO Challenge Cup for Junior Stallions.
Competition is fierce yet friendly with full support from all exhibitors
as the elite go head to head in Europe’s grandest National Show. The
Poles are respected worldwide for the natural manner in which their
horses are presented. Perhaps nowhere else in the world is the true
essence of the Arabian more evident than in the ring at Janow Podlaski
in the skilled hands of a Polish groom. The Polish crowd is alive
with enthusiasm, the weather is usually sunny and warm, the commentary
delightful, and the international panel of judges features many of
the breed’s most respected breeders and experts.
The incomparable PIANISSIMA used the 2004 Polish National Show to
not only enrapture the international audience with her perfect phenotype
and irresistible
charm, but segued her titles of Polish National Junior
Champion and Best in Show into her invincible campaign to successfully
capture the European Triple Crown. In this grand tradition, there
is assured attendance of several past, present and future World,
International and National Champions amongst the 2005 competitors,
all vying for the most prestigious and highly coveted title of Polish
National Champion.

| Breeding Parades
at the State Studs |
Visits to
each of the State Studs are a highlight for all international guests.
As an authentic window into the heart and soul of the Polish Arabian
horse, these thoughtfully organized and masterfully presented events
represent the opportunity to gain invaluable insight into the consummate
and consistent genius of the Polish Arabian breeding program. Many
visitors cherish this firsthand occasion to stroll through the barns
to see and touch the horses up close and personally, a time in which
many memorable moments are shared with personal favorites, newly discovered
wonders and living legends.
Each of the State Studs has its own special charm, and to the delight
and surprise of many international breeders, is focused on producing
its own unique type of Arabian horse. Established in 1817 as the very
first State Stud, Janow Podlaski is the cornerstone of the Polish
breeding program and one of the most respected Arabian operations
in the world. As host to both the Polish National Show and the Pride
of Poland Auction, Janow Podlaski represents the most enchanting and
idyllic environment in which to enjoy the Arabian horse. Renaissance-inspired
architecture, lush, expansive pastures, a richly forested, park-like
setting, and an overwhelming aura of immense historical
significance
make Janow Podlaski the Mecca of the Arabian Horse in Europe.
Michalow, who celebrated 50 years of success in 2003, lies in the
heart of “Old Poland”, just 80 miles from the country’s cultural capital,
Krakow. World-renowned for the most perfect specimens of the Arabian
mare, Michalow boasts a herd of equines that many consider the most
elite in the breed. Efficiently designed and superbly managed, Michalow
has been the recipient of numerous awards at the most prestigious
international events, as
well as having been honored with Poland’s
Presidential Award of Excellence.
Bialka, with an Arabian breeding program just over two decades old,
boasts an impressive list of accomplishments in the new endeavor as
well as great national respect as one of Poland’s oldest and most
important Stallion Depots. The stud’s long tradition of service, its
well-designed layout and naturally, beautiful topography make Bialka
the perfect setting for the annual Polish Spring Show, Poland’s biggest
national Arabian horse show (in number of entries) and host of the
National Championship for Arabian colts. |
